I am an independent business consultant and strategist.  I help clients with my expertise in standardization of services, product management, procurement, and merchandising.

Why Biz Bearing?   “Biz” is the obvious acronym for “business.”  “Bearing” is a navigation term referring to the actual direction of the forward course.  “Bearing” is also flashback to my automotive industry background, referring to a rotating support placed between moving parts to allow them to move easily.  The blog is dedicated to ever changing business climate and the factors related to the change as well as the occasional picture of a cool car.

Here at Biz Bearing I keep tabs on general business trends and the factors that affect business including, economics, creativity, politics, boomers, gen-Xers and beyond, technology, marketing, social media, innovation, and environment.   I will focus on consumer products and services.  I have a passion for the automotive aftermarket (All the products and services we buy after the initial purchase of the vehicle). 

EXPERIENCE:

I grew up in the automotive business working my way through college in auto parts stores (sales and management positions).  I was National Buyer at Chief Auto Parts (300+ stores owned by Southland Corp / 7-Eleven Stores).  My next position was Merchandise Director at CSK Auto (1200+ stores branded Checker Auto Parts, Kragen Auto Supply, Shucks Auto Supply, and AutoWorks)  and then off to Jiffy Lube International ( owned by Pennzoil-Quaker State / Shell Oil) as VP of Products and Services for over 2,000 franchised and company owned service centers.
